Athenoir sells sponsored placements alongside independent editorial coverage. This charter states, in one page, exactly how the two are kept separate — so readers, advertisers, and artists all know the same rules apply every time.
Sponsored placements are sold, commissioned, edited, and scheduled by our operations team. Editorial staff do not sell sponsorship, do not know a sponsor's payment status when writing about them, and have no role in scheduling sponsored units.
No payment, past or present, purchases a review, a mention, or favorable critique. An artist, gallery, or work covered editorially is assessed on the same terms whether or not that party has ever purchased a sponsored placement. Editorial judgments about market claims also follow our publication safety checklist (factual sourcing, no appreciation/forecast language, no fabricated events or attributions, right of reply for critical claims) — the same checklist regardless of any sponsorship relationship.
Every sponsored unit carries a persistent, visible label — distinct from our editorial layout — in list views, on the item's own page, and anywhere else it is featured. This label is never removed or minimized regardless of placement size or paid tier.
Athenoir uses AI assistance to help draft some editorial content. No AI-assisted article is published without the Editor-in-Chief's sign-off, confirming it has passed the publication safety checklist and reads as work Athenoir stands behind — the same bar as any other published article.
If you believe a sponsored unit is mislabeled, or that sponsorship has influenced coverage in a way that contradicts this charter, contact editorial@athenoir.com. See also our Transparency page for how content moderation reports are handled.
