This page lists every cookie the ATHENOIR platform sets, in plain language. It is short because our cookie footprint is short.
We set only the cookies the platform needs to function, plus analytics governed by Google Consent Mode. We do not set advertising cookies, we do not run third-party tracking pixels, and we do not sell or share browsing data. Advertising signals (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalization) are permanently denied — we serve no advertising.
How analytics starts depends on where you are visiting from. If you are in the European Union, the wider EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland — or if we cannot determine your location — analytics is opt-in: every Consent Mode signal defaults to “denied”, no analytics identifier is stored on your device, and Google Analytics operates cookieless (receiving only anonymous, aggregate consent-mode pings) unless and until you accept the cookie banner. Elsewhere, where no consent requirement applies, analytics is enabled by default and no banner is shown — though a previously recorded refusal is still honored.
Your banner choice is remembered for 180 days in the athenoir-consent cookie. To change your mind, delete that cookie in your browser and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| payload-token | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in. Contains your session token and is required for any authenticated area (dashboards, purchases, community features). | Session-based; expires when your session ends or you sign out. |
| csrf-token | Strictly necessary | Protects forms and account actions against cross-site request forgery attacks. | Session. |
| athenoir-consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner (accept or decline) so we do not ask again. | 180 days. |
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Google Analytics 4 — helps us understand how the platform is used (pages visited, general region, device type). In the EU/EEA/UK/Switzerland these are set only if you accept the cookie banner; until then Google Consent Mode keeps analytics storage denied and nothing is stored on your device. Outside those regions analytics is enabled by default. | Up to 2 years (set by Google). |
When you purchase an artwork or subscribe to a membership, payment is completed on our payment processor’s (Stripe) hosted checkout page. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own domain for fraud prevention and payment processing, governed by Stripe’s privacy policy. We do not control those cookies.
Some convenience features (for example, your in-session reading list) keep small amounts of data in your browser’s memory or local storage rather than in cookies. This data stays on your device, is never used for tracking, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Because both cookies we set are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent signing in and making purchases — the public parts of the platform (Magazine, Gallery browsing) will continue to work.
